Role Summary
As an FSTD Technical Support Senior Engineer, you will be the front-line support for Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTDs), ensuring their uptime, reliability, compliance, and maintenance. The role involves hands-on troubleshooting, coordination with global teams, customer satisfaction assurance, and contributions to safety and continuous improvement.
Key Accountabilities
- Coordinate technical tasks within the shift team and ensure effective handovers.
- Provide support during audits and surveillance.
- Deliver technical troubleshooting and proactive maintenance irrespective of shift roster.
- Support and report on training sessions for instructors and trainees.
- Ensure operational continuity in the absence of team leads.
- Collaborate with Toulouse support team, OEMs, and Quality functions.
Main Activities
Training Devices Maintenance & Operations
- Execute and coordinate daily simulator operations (version changes, pre-flights, instructor requests).
- Perform and supervise preventive, curative, and corrective maintenance.
- Install software updates and analyze qualification test data.
- Repair and troubleshoot internal hardware using lab equipment.
Troubleshooting & Discrepancy Handling
- Respond to on-the-spot technical issues.
- Monitor and resolve hardware failure discrepancy reports (DRs).
- Ensure root cause analysis and resolution for simulator issues.
Device Supervision & Compliance
- Oversee spare part availability and inventory.
- Support and contribute to compliance monitoring systems.
- Prepare devices for recurrent qualifications and regulatory approval.
Improvements & Updates
- Manage reliability and obsolescence improvement projects.
- Handle Aircraft Database updates and specific operational demands.
Safety Responsibility
- Analyze and report on in-service events related to safety and environment.
- Contribute to safety initiatives under Safety Management Systems (SMS).
Output Expectations
- Deliver high-reliability training devices on schedule with minimal downtime.
- Maintain effective communication and reporting across teams and management.
- Maintain high customer satisfaction and simulator readiness scores.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Electronic / Aeronautical Engineering or AME certification.
- 8–9 years of continuous hands-on experience with FSTD operations.
- Strong knowledge of FSTD authority certifications and compliance audits.
- Skilled in hardware repair, installation, and major simulator part changes.
- Experience with TRU FFS simulators or other OEMs (preferred).
- Excellent IT proficiency and a commitment to staying updated with technology.
- Strong stakeholder management and customer-centric communication.
- Willingness and ability to work on a 24/7 shift roster.
